Can people in an online learning environment perform as well or better than those on classroom education?

The U.S. Department of Education has recently published an Evaluation of Evidence-Based Practices in Online Learning. This evaluated a thousand empirical studies from 1996 to 2008. The study entitled, A Meta-Analysis and Review of Online Learning Studies, revealed that, on average, students in online learning conditions performed better than those receiving face-to-face instruction.

I am well acquainted with the traditional methods of teaching, where students would listen to long hours of lecture in the classroom. This method can be effective to some but not effective for most. In comparison to active learning such as return demonstrations at the skills laboratory and hands- on practice during clinical exposure, I can attest that the students' memory retention and skills mastery are enhanced several notches higher. With this observation, I have always believed that students learn more information faster when theory is paired with application.

In the last quarter of 2009, I came across Torane Hull who is an American nurse from California. It was then that I was introduced to the techniques of active learning that his family uses at Nawa Academy in French Gulch, California, USA . Active learning creates an environment in which the learner becomes involved and interacts with the information being taught. It is a very dynamic way of learning and it has been proven to be a very effective medium of instruction.

I am very pleased to tell you that active learning techniques are now available for nurses in the Philippines. Nurses' E-Learning Center is a U.S- Based Education System that offers ONLINE REVIEW for the NCLEX and other nursing examinations. It has a dynamic and interactive format that accelerates the learning process. It is the company's vision to provide nurses all over the world with an education that can enhance their knowledge and critical thinking skills. This enables our clients to be globally competitive in their nursing careers.

I highly recommend Nurses' E-Learning Center to be your partner in becoming a world- class professional nurse.
